ORBIS. The cycle.
Creating circularity.
Third-party certified and at least 75% external scrap use: our most circular products embody resource efficiency and reuse. With unwavering transparency, ORBIS champions a more sustainable future and paves the way to a closed loop. ORBIS is not just a product. It is a testament to our commitment to build a circular world that works!

Key Facts
in a nutshell
ORBIS (Latin for 'circle') is our label for particularly sustainably produced aluminium solutions with a high level of external scrap and represents our commitment to environmental responsibility. Whether you're looking for high-quality aluminium solutions or aiming to reduce your carbon footprint, ORBIS offers innovative and eco-friendly options tailored to meet your needs.
- Labels products with min. 75% external scrap
- High recycled content without compromising on quality
- Certificates available on request
Infinitely reusable – without loss of quality

We make aluminium re-usable
again and again
We use the combination of primary metal and recycled aluminum. We have the aspiration to grow in recycling and to source primary metal as green as available. We are continuously decreasing the Carbon Footprint of its materials by responsible metal and raw material sourcing & increasing scrap usage. More than 50% of the worlds production, however, is based on coal and e.g. in China the share is even growing. We operate at emission levels of approx. 30% of world average. We managed to drop our primary metals emission level by 25% over the last 5 years.
Recycled material
from cradle to gate
The process of recycling aluminium is remarkably efficient, saving up to 95% of the energy compared to primary production. And this is where the circle closes. Our label ORBIS (Latin for "circle") is based on the closed loop concept and stands for maximum transparency. Speira wants to stand for real commitment and genuine sustainability motives.
That's why our approach to the rather vague definition of recycled content is sharp: Only external scrap counts and contributes to recycled content. We differentiate between internal scrap that has been kept in our value chain for internal reprocessing and scrap from external sources outside Speira (including our value chain with our joint venture operations) without accounting for emissions that occurred somewhere in the history of this metal. This way we aim to track the physical reality of emissions as close as possible.
Ultimately, our primary goal is the reduction of carbon emissions. The methods we adopt, grounded in established standards, to quantify and convey the advantages of aluminium recycling are essential tools in our collective mission to lower carbon footprints. Milestone on the way
to net zero
We are continuously reducing the CO2 footprint of our rolled products through a comprehensive and strategic approach. This includes the responsible procurement of raw materials, ensuring that our suppliers adhere to strict environmental standards, and the increasing use of scrap materials in our production processes. By integrating more recycled aluminium, we significantly cut down on the energy required for production, thereby reducing our overall carbon emissions.
ORBIS marks a milestone on this path. High quality, at least 75% recycled content, a low carbon footprint, independent certification: this brings us a big step closer to our goal of being the industry benchmark in terms of sustainability by 2030.
